Your Host... Melissa Sellers!

Melissa Sellers was born and raised on real country music. She grew
up in the Houston area picking and singing with her mother and two
brothers.

When Melissa was ten, her picking and singing family made the move
to the Austin area and she began performing with them, singing the
songs of legends like Loretta Lynn, Patsy Cline and Tammy Wynette.
Her traditional country roots led her to write her own songs and front
her own band.

In 1997, Melissa formed the Melissa Sellers Band with many talented
musicians like the Waddell Brothers and Bob Brown. In 2000, The
Band recorded their first release, Half Way There, produced by David
and Leland Waddell.

Around this time a fiery young guitar slinger named Will Knaak joined
the band and piano wizard Jim Panek became a regular fixture as well.
In 2002, the group recorded their first full-length studio CD, Deep South
Austin, at the Pedernales Recording Studio. Produced by Bob Brown,
this recording includes Melissa’s original music, as well as music
from songwriters like Ray Frushay, Billy Joe Shaver, Poodle Lynn,
Bobby Boyd and Billy Wimberly.

On Deep South Austin (her 2006 CD), Melissa is fortunate enough to
have recorded duets with the soon to be legendary Kevin Fowler and
former band member and songwriter David Waddell. Since the release
of this CD, Melissa has had the opportunity to open shows for
legendary artist like Billy Joe Shaver, Kevin Fowler and Willie Nelson.

Deep South Austin is proof that traditional country music is alive and
well in Texas. After six years of paying their dues in honky-tonks, dance
halls and bars, the Melissa Sellers Band has become the best kept
secret in South Austin -- but not for long.
